Using Dynamite to Free Logs

Description: With the drive season ending in in summer, streams were made ready for the next spring drive during the fall season. Sometimes small dams were built to raise the water level. Drivers used dynamite to clear the dams or release logs from log jams. That was very risky. Notice how the dynamite stick was put in place.
