Description: Here in the Green River area, a man is guiding 4-foot logs with a pike pole. The drive started as soon as waterflow in the streams was high and lasted a fortnight. This is what loggers called "La grande drave". During those two weeks, wood was thrown in the stream and carried by the current. Drivers had to guide logs and prevent or release pile-ups. All the timber cut in winter was transported that way before the flow of water diminished.
