Description: In the early 1950s, in the Green River forest, before cutting trees into 4-foot logs with a chain saw and piling them, trees were debarked. Debarked trees floated better and were cleaner when they arrived at the Fraser Companies mill in Edmundston. That was less costly. Notice dust and smoke produced by the operation.
