Description: Here is the new Plaster Rock sawmill under construction, on September 7th, 1973. The partly covered building is the sawmill section where logs were cut into boards. We see on the left, exterior boilers that produced hot water to facilitate the washing and debarking of logs. The part not yet covered would be the storage room where boards would be sorted and classified by length and quality. The circular base on the right would be the location of the incinerator where waste, mostly bark, would be burned. The two buildings in the background would be the section to dry wooden boards after sawing. We notice the two wood yards: one on top of the hill and one near the Tobique River. Wood was stacked there before being shipped by train. We also notice the old Fraser sawmill below the hill, that was built in 1906.
