Description: Barkers at the Fraser mill of Edmundston removed bark from the 4-foot logs in the 1940s. A worker is watching wood passing through the barkers. The long- spout faucets used water from the river to wash the logs. The logs were hauled-up on conveyors installed on the banks of the Madawaska River. Once barked, logs were carried inside the mill on a conveyor or piled for winter operation.
