Description: From 1955 on, Fraser hired workers during winter to retrieve wood caught at the bottom of the Madawaska River. This operation allowed the cleaning of the river and the salvaging of wood. Here we see a man cutting a hole in the ice with a crosssaw. Afterwards, he will retrieve the logs with a pike pole. That wood will be transported to the Fraser Mill in Edmundston.
