Description: From 1955 onward, Fraser hired workers during winter to retrieve wood resting at the bottom of the Madawaska River. This process cleaned the bottom of the river and salvaged the sunken wood. Here we see a man using a pike pole to "fish" some 4-foot logs from the river. This salvaged wood was then tranported to the Fraser Mill in Edmundston.
