Description: From 1955 onward, Fraser hired workers during winter to retrieve wood from the bottom of the Madawaska River. This operation cleaned up the river and salvaged wood stuck at the bottom. Here we see two men pulling a log out of the river. The first one on the left is handling a pike pole and the other one, a pulpwood hook or pulphook. This wood will be transported to the Fraser mill in Edmundston.
