Description: From 1955 onward, Fraser hired workers to retrieve wood from the bottom of the Madawaska River during winter. This operation allowed to clean the river and to salvage wood caught at the bottom of the river. Here we see Mr. Réal Levasseur cutting a hole in the ice with a chainsaw in the 1970s. Wood that was salvaged was sent to the Fraser Mill in Edmundston.
