Description: In this 1970 photo, we see the hot pond at the Kedgwick Fraser sawmill. The heated water was used to wash the logs and to thaw them during wintertime, in order to facilitate the debarking process. Logs enter the debarker rooms on three conveyors. After being debarked, they were cut. Notice the waste incinerators where unusable waste was burned (mostly bark).
