Description: The Fraser company (Kedgwick) sawmill officially opened in 1970. It closed in the early 1990s. Softwood lumber measuring 2"x4" and 2"x6" was produced there. Logs were debarked and sawed in the sawmill near the waste incinerators. At the end of the mill, we see the shed where lumber was stacked after being sorted by size and quality. The conic structure on the right is the waste incinerator where waste(mainly bark) was burned. The lumber kiln is the largest building. After lumber was cut, it was dried in that building. The lumber storage building is located on the left near the railroad. Lumber is loaded in the train cars. Wood chips are loaded in freight cars on the right to be transported to the (Edmundston and Atholville) Fraser pulp mills. Lumber was also stacked in lumber yards.
