Description: The construction of the (Plaster Rock) Fraser sawmill, on top of the hill, was completed in 1977. Notice the old sawmill at the bottom of the hill along the Tobique River between the dam and the bridge. We see two kilns: one below, located near the courtyards and one on the hill near the sawing building. Boards would be dried there once cut. Logs were debarked and cut into boards in the sawmill. On its right, is the sorting storage shed where boards were sorted for length and quality. The circular building on the right is the waste incinerator. Wastes which are unrecyclable (mostly bark) were burned. Notice the two wood yards: one at the bottom of the hill and then another one on top, where wooden boards were stacked before being shipped by train. The planer workshop is the closest building. Planing boards made the wood uniform.
