Description: A bird's-eye view of the (Kedgwick) Fraser sawmill in July 1978. This sawmill officially opened in 1970 and closed down in the early 1990s. Stud construction timber was produced here in 2"x4" and 2"x6" sizes. Logs were debarked and cut in the sawmill located near the waste incinerators. The sorting room is located at the end of the sawmill, where sawed timber was sorted by size and quality. The circular structure on the left is the waste incinerator. Unusable waste (mainly bark) was burned there. There were three kilns. The largest building is one of them as are the smaller ones located near the large lumber yard. Sawed timber was dried in the kilns. The planer section is located near the railroad, on the left. Timber was planed there to become smooth and uniform. It was then sorted and loaded into the freight cars. On the right, some freight cars are loaded with wood chips for transportation to the Fraser pulp mills in Edmundston and Atholville. Sawed timber was also stacked outside in lumber yards.
