Description: We see the Kedgwick Fraser sawmill, on August 21st, 1974. This sawmill was officially opened in 1970, and closed down in the early 1990s. Lumber measuring 2"x4" and 2"x6" was cut there. Logs were debarked and cut in the sawmill located near the waste incinerators. The sorting section was located at the end of the sawmill, where wood was sorted by size and quality. The circular structure at the right of the sawmill is the incinerator, where unusable waste (mainly bark) was burned. The lumber kiln is the largest building. It was there that sawed timber was dried. The lumber storage shed was located along the railroad to facilitate wood loading on the freight cars. On the right, some freight cars were also loaded with wood chips ready to be transported to the Edmundston and Atholville Fraser pulp mills. Sawed timber was also stacked in lumber yards outside.
